The West Big Data Innovation Hub, one of four regional hubs funded by the National Science Foundation, includes contributors and data enthusiasts from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and a global network of partners.

Our mission is to build and strengthen strategic partnerships across academia, industry, nonprofits, and government — connecting research, education, and practice to harness the data revolution.

Whether it is participating in a data challenge or carpentry workshop or working towards a more resilient water future—and everything in between—we invite you to join our diverse and growing team of stakeholders that envisions a community empowered to contribute to a thriving West.

World Water Week Session: Data-Driven Water Systems Solutions for Communities

 

The West Hub hosted the virtual Data-Driven Water Systems Solutions for Communities session at World Water Week on August 21. The event explored the intersections of AI-centric data, analysis, and water research and management as it relates to community-driven actions for equitable water solutions. View the recording here.

CISE Southwest Research Expansion Aspiring Investigators Conference Held in Tucson

The University of Arizona recently hosted a two-day conference in Tucson. The conference focused on identifying and developing collaborative proposals to the Directorate of Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) at the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The Sandia Machine Learning and Deep Learning (MLDL) Workshop (Sept 9-12)

The workshop is an opportunity for the community to present work across various national laboratories and collaborators in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL); network with staff and management at Sandia focused on work in these areas and discuss ideas for potential new work and collaboration; and teach/test MLDL methods via tutorials for those interested in getting some hands-on experience with ML and DL.
