Staff Writer Kimberly Mann Bruch
The West Big Data Innovation Hub is excited to welcome Kimberly Mann Bruch as our inaugural staff writer.
Bruch has worked on academic communication and distance learning projects for more than two decades, ranging from her experience with National Science Foundation and NASA programs at UC San Diego to her earlier years with Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee and Southwestern College in southern California.
Her immediate role will focus on capturing the work of the Hub community through stories and partner spotlights, and spearheading strategic communications. Activities, programs, and initiatives featured will span thematic areas and cross-cutting efforts as well as new seed-funding opportunities in translational data science as part of the second phase of the Hub.
Bruch has also been assigned to the EarthCube Office and other programs at the San Diego Supercomputer Center.
“With these new roles at the West Big Data Innovation Hub and EarthCube, I’m most excited to work with colleagues on blending science writing with podcast development,” said Bruch. “Many years ago, I was a radio announcer at a small town station and personally enjoy multimedia experiences that encompass solid scripting via audio.”
Bruch holds an MA in Communication from San Diego State University, where she focused her studies on telecommunications. She is an avid runner and backpacker.
